“The war against terrorism is the fourth; and it is a world war because it can raise its evil head anywhere in the world”– Pranab Mukherjee, President of India.

To read such statement from President of the nation which has been victim of terrorism for more than 2 decades gives mixed feeling. A nation which lost 2 Prime Ministers, large number of police men, army people and civilians in numerous incidences of terrorist attacks might feel that finally justice may be delivered. The mixed feeling is in sense that if we ask what have we done to curb this menace? What were we waiting for and still waiting for to happen? We have done almost nothing. About 1/3 of district under Naxallite terror, Jammu Kashmir still remains under curfew every know and then, Assam recently was under violence like any thing.

What kind of action have we taken? Terrorism is tolerated …….every time there is any instance ….there is huge uproar for some days in media….people talk….and govt bodies as usual ‘condemn’ it…..many times i feel…..govt should hold a press conference and give statement on monthly basis that “we condemn all the terrorist activities, communal violence, internal disturbances….etc that are going to occur in coming month !!”

This may sound cynical ….but sometimes to highlight issues…. criticizing in this fashion attracts attention especially in issues which, sort of, tend to become trivial. Recent bomb blast in Pune is the example. Just because it was low intensity, number of people died was not more, the issue didnt surface. I am not talking of media uproar. Concern here is of security. The casual approach towards internal security is threatening the fabric of India. Today no Indian state can claim to be free of such violence activity. Some are facing internal threat and other cross border threat.

“To fight against adharma is one’s duty”….said Shri Krishna in Geeta….its time to follow it.
